According to the authorities, five people died in a fire in a building of the world's largest vaccine manufacturer Serum Institute of India in Pune, West India.

The victims are believed to be construction workers.

Rescue workers found the bodies Thursday after putting out the fire.

The company assured that the fire would not affect vaccine production and that no vaccine doses stored there had been destroyed.

The Serum Institute also manufactures the corona vaccine for the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca for India and other markets under the name Covishield.
