On January 21, the Hong Kong police charged a 41-year-old local woman on suspicion of possession of firearms or ammunition without a license and appeared in West Kowloon Magistracy on the 22nd.

  The police said that on October 16, 2020, the woman was intercepted and searched in Sham Shui Po, and a lighter-shaped stun gun was seized from her body, which was verified to be sufficient to cause bodily harm.

After consulting the Department of Justice, the police formally prosecuted related cases on the 21st.

  On January 20, the Sham Shui Po Police District launched its law enforcement work code-named "Operation Thunder", with the purpose of cracking down on stun guns flowing into the market.

Sham Shui Po Police District Assistant Commander Cheng Junjie said that from 2015 to 2020, 105 people in Hong Kong were arrested for collecting and selling stun guns.

There are many types of stun guns, including hand-carried, flashlight, iron lotus, and lighter-shaped. In the previous season, the Sham Shui Po Police District intercepted lighter-shaped stun guns three times.
