No apologies from France to Algeria, but strong symbolic acts, such as the creation of a “Memories and Truth” commission.

This is how Emmanuel Macron hopes to appease the memorial conflict over the Algerian war and bring the two countries closer together.

The French president is inspired by the report given to him yesterday by historian Benjamin Stora.

But will these symbolic acts be enough?
