The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan last year was only 4.11 million, 87% less than the number of adults, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

Currently, foreigners are completely restricted from entering Japan except for special circumstances, and for the time being, foreign tourists are not expected to recover.

According to the announcement by the Japan National Tourism Organization, the estimated number of foreign tourists visiting Japan in the last year was 4,115,900.

This is an 87% reduction from the adult 31.882,000.

By country or region,

▽ China has the largest number with 1.06 million,

followed by

▽ Taiwan with 690,000

▽ South Korea with 480,000

▽ Hong Kong with 340,000.

By month, the number was 2.66 million in January last year, but dropped to 1663 in May due to the spread of the infection.

After that, it was on a recovery trend, but as the Japanese government implemented immigration restrictions to stop the traffic of business people to 11 countries and regions in response to the state of emergency, funerals and childbirth of relatives, etc. Except for special circumstances, foreigners are totally restricted from entering Japan.

For this reason, the situation is such that foreign tourists are not expected to recover for the time being, and the impact on related tourism industries is likely to continue.
