The Compiègne-Noyon hospital center alone has around 160 patients treated for Covid-19 infection.

If the English variant was not detected on the spot, new analyzes have been launched to verify whether a still unknown mutation of the virus is not responsible for these alarming figures.

The coronavirus epidemic is recording local outbreaks in France, without it being always possible to explain exactly why.

This can be seen in the South-West, in the Aisne, in the Somme or even in the Oise where the incidence rate is increasing within the population.

In several hospitals in these departments, the number of positive tests is also increasing.

This is the case, for example, at Dieppe, Abbeville or Compiègne-Noyon hospitals, which currently have around 160 Covid patients, as well as 75 staff members (medical and non-medical) infected on the two sites of the establishment.

These numbers had not climbed so high since the first wave.

"The incidence rates in the Compiègne and Noyon basin are higher than the national average, but also than the regional average. They have been particularly excited in recent weeks", confirms with Europe 1 Catherine Latger, the director from the Compiègne-Noyon hospital.

Coronavirus: follow the evolution of the situation Wednesday, January 20

"We did not find the English variant with us"

According to this official, this situation is not "a disaster", and remains "manageable", but it nevertheless raises many questions.

"We had a number of patients or caregivers tested for the English variant. That's not it, we couldn't find the English variant at home," says Catherine Latger.

"We asked for new studies to find out if there are any new, unidentified variants," she adds.

For now, these results are not yet known.
