Recently, a group of photos from the back of the same style spanning 13 years have been swiped on the Internet.

One shot was taken in the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake-stricken area, with the words "Earthquake Relief" written on the back; the other shot was taken on the front line of the 2021 Dalian war "epidemic", with the words "Go on Jinpu" on the back.

The protagonists of these two photos are the same person, An Lei, a staff member of the Transportation Bureau of Jinpu New District, Dalian, Liaoning.

"More than 10 years have passed, and my appearance and body shape have changed a lot. I am no longer the young guy who just graduated." 38-year-old An Lei pointed to his photo and said.

In more than 10 years, his original intention of volunteering has not changed.

After the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, An Lei resolutely joined the volunteer team and rushed to the front line of earthquake relief.

When this photo was taken, An Lei was transporting insulation boards for building simple board houses.

An Lei said that in order for the people in the disaster area to live in a new house as soon as possible, the volunteers had to move more than 200 insulation boards a day and worked until the early hours of the morning.

Day after day, An Lei spent more than 20 days in the disaster area.

"At that time, I was touched by the tragic scene after the Wenchuan earthquake on TV. I was only 25 years old at that time. I didn't think much about it, and I went there with passion." An Lei said.

Since then, An Lei has become a volunteer and actively participates in various voluntary activities outside of work.

In the 13 years, An Lei’s volunteer service mainly targets sick children, and he has always insisted on “visiting the scene” to convey warmth. “I must personally visit the sick children who donated money, sometimes donating money, sometimes even just bringing Some fruits, do your best."

On December 15, 2020, a local new crown pneumonia epidemic occurred in Dalian Jinpu New District.

That night, the Transportation Bureau of Jinpu New Area set up a transfer team to undertake the transfer of close contacts to the isolation hotel.

An Lei is responsible for the statistics and scheduling of the transfer team.

An Lei works 14 to 5 hours a day, eats and lives in the office.

Even so, after get off work, he will sacrifice some rest time to deliver medicines and urgently needed items to the people in the closed control area.

"Affected by the epidemic, some areas in Jinpu New Area are under closed control. Because I work in the transfer team and have a pass, the volunteers all forward the help information and materials to me, and I will pass it on." By virtue of his "privilege", he acts as a "ferryman" in a closed control area.

On January 5, 2021, An Lei received help messages from volunteers.

A truck driver from Beijing, Master Wu, came to Jinpu New District to deliver goods before the outbreak of the epidemic in Dalian. He encountered an epidemic when he was preparing to return and was trapped in a closed control area.

For more than half a month, Master Wu ate and lived in his truck, and could only fill his hunger with instant noodles and ham every day.

In the process of helping Master Wu, my colleague took a second photo of An Lei.

Looking at the familiar back photo, An Lei remembered a similar back photo taken by volunteer "colleagues" in the Wenchuan earthquake relief 13 years ago.

On January 11th, An Lei posted two photos in his "Circle of Friends", together with information on helping Master Wu tide over the difficulties.

Unexpectedly, the local media in Dalian reported him.

He said: "I used "Tik Tok" and saw two photos of his back "hot"."

After learning of this situation, caring people in Dalian donated self-heating rice and other food to Master Wu, which was delivered to An Lei's unit, and An Lei was entrusted to transfer it to Master Wu.

An Lei receives similar information for help almost every day, up to 6 requests a day.

In the past month since the outbreak, An Lei has delivered medicines and urgently needed supplies to the people 20 or 30 times, driving more than 200 kilometers.

On December 26, 2020, a volunteer WeChat group sent a message for help. A pregnant woman living in a closed controlled community needed a special medicine because of heart disease.

If the medicine is not administered in time, both the pregnant woman and the fetus will be in danger.

"This is a life-saving medicine. Give it to me. Don't worry!" After leaving work at 9 o'clock that evening, An Lei hurried to the patient's community and handed the medicine to the pregnant husband.

On the way back, An Lei felt warm in the cold wind.

"To help a person is to help a family." No matter how busy every day is, An Lei has no complaints. He has already regarded volunteer service as part of his work.

He said that as a party member, he felt very proud to help others within his ability.

Because of his busy work and requiring 24-hour standby, An Lei has not returned home for many days.

What made him most gratified was that his 9-year-old son saw An Lei's deeds from the media and called and said, "When he grows up, he will also be like a father."

An Lei did not expect that his back photo became popular. “In this epidemic, there are tens of thousands of volunteers in Jinpu New Area who are silently contributing. I am just the most ordinary member of them.”
