Reputed to be more contagious, the English variant of the coronavirus is gradually weaving its web throughout France.

It has even just been formally detected in Vendée, a department relatively spared by the epidemic.

Three people positive for Covid-19 are carriers, announces the regional health agency (ARS) of Pays-de-la-Loire.

A family from England, who came to spend the end of year celebrations in Vendée, would be at the origin of the contamination.

"Reinforced investigations have been carried out to identify the chains of contamination and have highlighted cases of Covid-19 in six families, having been in contact with the first infected people," reports the ARS.

At least 25 contaminations

At this stage, 25 people would be infected (including 3 with the English variant) and 46 people have been identified as a risk contact.

“They are informed of their situation and have been isolated.

No one presented with severe form and was hospitalized.

"

In addition, the ARS, in connection with school health, organizes screening in certain educational establishments in the sector.

The English variant of the coronavirus had already been detected last week in Pays-de-la-Loire, in the Cholet basin (Maine-et-Loire).

Three people were carriers.

One of them had been hospitalized.
