On January 18, according to the China National Space Administration's Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center, China's first Mars rover global call for names has completed the initial review.

After a preliminary review by the review committee, 10 names including Hongyi, Qilin, Nezha, Chitu, Zhurong, Qiaosuo, Hot Wheels, Dream Chasing, Tianxing, and Xinghuo will be the naming scope of China's first Mars rover.

 China's first global naming campaign for the Mars rover is divided into four stages: name submission, preliminary evaluation of the top ten by the judges, top three public votes, and weighted evaluation of the top three. The results will be announced after approval.

July 24, 2020 to August 16, 2020 is the first stage of the call for names. After merging and sorting out duplicate names, a total of 39,808 valid nominations have been received.

 In the first stage of the online voting, after the 10 names of Hony, Kylin, Nezha, Chitu, Zhurong, Seeking, Hot Wheels, Chasing Dream, Tianxing and Xinghuo are selected, the top 3 names will be selected by the judges for final review and reference The top 3 people who scored in the public vote finally selected 3 names and submitted them for approval according to the procedures. Finally, the name of China's first Mars rover was selected and announced before the Tianwen-1 probe landed on Mars.

 The new round of voting is planned to start at 12:00 on January 20, 2021. As of 24:00 on February 28, 2021, the public can vote online in designated mobile applications.

 According to the plan, the Tianwen-1 probe will implement near-fire braking after approaching Mars on or about February 10, 2021. It will be captured by Mars and enter the ring-fire orbit, becoming a Martian satellite and preparing for landing on Mars. .
