He was gruff and often played the roles of misanthropists.

Jean-Pierre Bacri, French actor and screenwriter, died Monday, January 18, from cancer, his agent Anne Alvares-Correa told AFP.

He was 69 years old.

The man, a figure of French theater and cinema, occupied a prominent place with the public for his roles of grieving and disillusioned but deeply human anti-heroes.

He had written several plays and films with Agnès Jaoui.

"Didier", "My best friends", "Kitchen and outbuildings", "The City of fear", "Le Goût des autres" ... so many films that have become classics and which have won him the great affection of the French.

Because behind each of his roles, Jean-Pierre Bacri was above all human.
