The "Children's Hospice," a facility where children with serious illnesses such as childhood cancer can spend time while receiving palliative care, will be opened in Yokohama City, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the planned construction site.

Children's hospice is a facility where children whose lives are threatened by serious illnesses such as childhood cancer can spend time with their families while receiving palliative care, and many are made in the United Kingdom and Germany, but in Japan. It is not well known in Osaka, and currently there are only two in Osaka.

This children's hospice will be opened in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama City in October by an NPO corporation in Kanagawa Prefecture, and on the 18th, about 20 people concerned gathered at the planned construction site and a groundbreaking ceremony was held.

According to the NPO corporation, it is the first time that it has been opened in eastern Japan.

The facility will be constructed by renting land owned by Yokohama City, and will accept up to three pairs of parents and children a day from October this year.

There are nurses and nursery teachers in the facility, which means that children can study with peace of mind, play with other children, and stay with their families.

Naoto Tagawa of the NPO "Yokohama Children's Hospices Project" said, "I want to make it a place where children can spend a rich time with their families."
