In Kamiita Town, Tokushima Prefecture, a traditional event called "Rikimochi" was held to compete for how far a huge kagami mochi could be carried, and powerful parents and children excited the venue.

"Rikimochi", which is handed down at Taisan-ji Temple in Kamiita Town, is a traditional event in which power pride competes for how far a huge kagami mochi can be carried.

Due to the influence of the new Corona, the general participation has disappeared, and last year, Yoji Dan (44) from Naruto City and his daughter Nozomi (16), who won the championship in Naruto City, participated as representatives of men and women.

Mr. Nozomi, who challenged first, held a 70-kilogram kagami mochi firmly and carried a 15-meter-long approach to the shrine, playing a major role.

Next, his father, Yoji, who wore a shirt with the words "Beyond himself," picked up a huge rice cake weighing 140 kg, which was twice as large as Nozomi, and carried it with him.

Finally, a sutra was chanted in front of the main hall and prayed for the end of the new coronavirus, with the hope that the plague would escape from the activity of bragging power.

Mr. Nozomi said, "It was heavy, but I was selected as the winner last year, so I thought I would carry it well and did my best."

His father, Yoji, said, "I do training such as pull-ups and push-ups every day for Rikimochi. I hope Corona will end soon and I will be able to lead a normal life."
