Sharjah Art: Opening the door for applications for the "Short Films" grant

The Sharjah Art Foundation has opened the door to apply for a grant for producing short films, within the activities of the fourth session of the Sharjah Film Platform, with a total value of $ 30,000, awarded to the winners to produce and complete their short film projects.

The Foundation invited filmmakers to submit a grant application, including an overview of the film's genre, theme, structure, plot, characters, location, in addition to the original script, budget and production schedule.

It also requires attaching a video link that includes a summary of the film on “Vimeo” or “YouTube”, provided that the duration of the video does not exceed three minutes. Filmmakers are allowed to choose the artistic approach, format and content that matches their vision in presenting the summary, whether the director is speaking and clarifying his vision, or By presenting a promotional film "Trailer", or selections from previous works.

The applicants will be evaluated according to the quality of the script, as well as their creative and artistic skills and vision in the implementation of the film.

The Foundation indicated that the application for the grant is available internationally, and that the seventh of March is the deadline for submitting applications, provided that the duration of the film does not exceed 50 minutes, and the films completed will be shown in the next rounds of the Sharjah Film Platform.

It is noteworthy that the Sharjah Film Platform is an annual film festival launched by the Sharjah Art Foundation to support the thriving art scene in the UAE and the surrounding region, and the world, by providing an essential platform for well-known and emerging filmmakers, producers, critics and students.

Since its first version in 2018, the platform has expanded its programs, and has witnessed increasing participation from the region and the world.

Three directors won the grant for short films in the previous round of the platform: Nadera Omrani for the film "Hajjah" (2021), Suha Choucair for the film "In the Time of the Revolution" (2020), and the duo Beilin Tan and Anton Feducle for the film "She who saw the depths" ( 2021), and while the film "In the Time of the Revolution" was shown in the third session of the platform, the other two films will be shown in the next round that will be held this year.
