Recently, a rare winter mirage scene appeared in the Kumtag Desert in Shanshan County, Xinjiang, which may resemble lake water, sand dunes, or high-rise buildings in the desert.

A mirage is a natural phenomenon formed by the refraction of light.

The appearance of the mirage was short, narrow, and long.

At first, only small puddles appeared in the desert, and after a few hours, a lake surface was formed, and the surface of the lake was faintly visible with waves and water plants.

This scene takes place between the desert and the flaming mountain, about 40 kilometers long and 20 kilometers wide.

At around 2 noon, as the temperature rises, the mirage scene reaches its maximum area, and gradually fades around 5 o'clock.

According to Khalidan Kader, a meteorological engineer of the Shanshan County Meteorological Bureau, the mirage scene that appeared this time is closely related to the weather, humidity, and temperature in Shanshan County.

The appearance of a mirage in January is relatively rare.
