The crown prince of Oman, Dhi Yazin, has become engaged, various media in the Middle East report Saturday.

Sultan Haitham's eldest son has chosen his niece Princess Sayyida Meyyan Bint Shihab Al Said.

The engaged couples are related through their fathers, who are brothers.

Meyyan's father, Prince Shihab, is a Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense in the Government of Oman.

The crown prince has been minister of culture, youth and sports since last year in the same cabinet headed by Sultan Haitham himself.

Meyyan is an interior designer and artist, working in photography and digital art, among other things.

At the moment there is also an exhibition of her work in Oman.

Thirty-year-old Dhi Yazin, whose name is also written as Theyazin in English-language Arabic media, was appointed crown prince by his father earlier this week.

Official installation and swearing-in have yet to take place.
