The sixth edition of the African Nations Championship opened this Saturday, January 16 in Yaoundé with the meeting between Cameroon and Zimbabwe.

The Lions A 'have, at home, the intention to mark the spirits, a year before the kick off of the next CAN.

“

As the host of the competition, we have in mind only one objective which is to win,

” said striker Jacques Zoua Daogari, captain of the day, the day before.

For this first outing, the Cameroonian coach, Ndtoungou Mpile Martin, did not line up Yannick Ndjeng, centerpiece of the group.

Despite several shots on target within 30 minutes, the Cameroonians failed to open the scoring against defensive Zimbabweans and lost a lot of balls.

After dominating the first 45 minutes, the Lions A 'finally returned to the locker room without having the opportunity to take the lead, despite the fifteen shots.

In the 41st, a last shot signed Félix Oukine Tcheoude goes over the goals.

In the second half, the Lions A 'returned to the pitch without any change in the group.

After still missing opportunities, the Cameroonians ended up opening the scoring thanks to an acrobatic return from defender Salomon Charles Banga in the 72nd minute, on an assist from Yannick Ndjeng.

Cameroon is doing a good job.

During the last edition in Morocco, the Cameroonians were out from the group stage by finishing in last place in their group.
