China News Service, Xi'an, January 15 (Reporter Mei Yilong) After the tiles, fruits, and vegetables have been transformed, can they perform wonderful music such as "Happy New Year" and "Girls' Love"?

This seemingly whimsical problem is not difficult for Xi'an Yifei.

He made these objects into musical instruments to play. In his hands, these objects seemed to have magical powers and could emit sweet music.

Yi Fei, 43 years old this year, was born in an ordinary family in Zhouzhi, Shaanxi. His father was a primary school music teacher. Under the influence of his father, he became interested in music and art since childhood. Later, he specialized in playing musical instruments and became a livelihood. Profession, running around in major performance venues.

With the development of the times and the fiercely competitive performing arts market, innovation has become the "outlet" of Yifei, and finally created the "saw music", which made the saw play like a violin and was loved by the audience for a time.

"I know these musical instruments as a musician, so I don’t have much competitiveness. Another audience watched too much, which may cause visual fatigue. Later, my master taught me to use a saw to pull music. It felt very magical at the time and I was performing. The post effect was very good, and the audience liked it very much. From then on, the idea of exploring this novel instrument was born." Yifei said.

By chance, Yifei discovered that vegetables can "make a sound."

He began to look up information and research and develop on the basis of foreign "vegetable percussion". The whole process was full of ups and downs. In the early stage of development, Yifei would go to the vegetable market every day to pick vegetables and listen to the sound.

In order to be able to make a satisfactory yam flute, he carved dozens of catties of fresh yam and tried thousands of catties of various vegetables.

The effort paid off, and finally carrot xylophone, yam flute, pumpkin drum, potato muyu, etc. were realized one by one in his hands.

"Because vegetables are fragile and perishable, they need to be especially careful during the production process, and at the same time, pay attention to the storage method to make them as'durable' as possible, so it is relatively difficult to make a vegetable musical instrument." Yifei said Although the timbre of the vegetable musical instrument is not as crisp and loud as the traditional musical instrument, it has its own uniqueness and is also very pleasant to play.

Yifei and his friends formed the "Vegetable Band" in 2012. Their performance using vegetables as a musical instrument was loved by the audience.

However, Yi Fei was not satisfied with this. He transformed and innovated objects such as fishing line, oral liquid bottle, pump, ceramic tile, plastic tube, etc., to give music magic.

Due to the 2020 epidemic, there were fewer performance invitations. Facing the "dilemma", Yi Fei did not give in.

He told reporters that musicians make a living on the stage and are currently transferring offline performance to online. Using "cloud" music to let more people understand their creation is also a new "outlet."
