Affected by the cold wave recently, the sea conditions around the Hainan Island have been poor, and some criminals have taken advantage of this special situation to engage in illegal activities.

In the past few days, the Hainan Maritime Police Bureau has successively seized 4 illegally transporting sea sand ships in the waters near the middle channel of the Qiongzhou Strait, seized more than 20,500 tons of sea sand, and seized 43 persons involved in the case.

  On January 5, the law enforcement ships of the Hainan Maritime Police Bureau discovered that there were suspicious trajectories of two bulk carriers while patrolling the area under its jurisdiction, and requested them to stop for inspection.

After boarding and inspection, the two bulk cargo ships had a crew of 21 and carried about 10,500 tons of sea sand. None of the ships at the scene could provide proof of the legal source of the sea sand.

  On January 12, the law enforcement vessels of the Hainan Maritime Police Bureau once again seized two illegally transporting sea sand ships in the waters near the middle channel of the Qiongzhou Strait.

After on-site investigations, it was found that the two sand-carrying ships had a crew of 22 people and were carrying about 10,000 tons of sea sand. The two ships were also unable to provide proof of the legal source of sea sand, waterway cargo waybill, cargo manifest, and handover list. Materials, suspected of illegal crimes.

  Currently, the case is under further investigation.
