Israel: Thousands of blue jellyfish threaten to plug power plant -

20 Minutes

About twenty physalies, resembling jellyfish, were discovered on the beach of La Hague (Manche) in early January.

An incredible find since these specimens usually evolve "in tropical zone", indicated Sébastien Houiller, guard of the Norman coast, in

.

It is important not to touch them

Their presence on this Norman beach did not really delight the authorities.

They are even rather worried.

It must be said that physalies, also called "sea bladders", do not have a good reputation.

If a walker put his foot on it, he could feel a very sharp pain or, in extreme cases, respiratory and heart problems.

The danger is very real because the victim, if he is allergic, can even die.

The municipality of La Hague has therefore decided to alert its inhabitants by posting a message on Facebook.

“If you notice the presence of physalies on the coasts of La Hague, above all do not touch them and keep your dogs on a leash.

"The warning must be taken seriously because" even on the sand, even dried out, they can still transmit their venom several weeks, even several months after their stranding ", warns Dominique Mallevoy, specialist in these species.
