At 23:41 on January 13, the official Weibo of the Information Office of the Hangzhou Municipal People's Government issued a notice stating that the software developer was 41-year-old Xie Moumou, and criminal coercive measures have been taken.
"Health Code Demo" APP has been removed
The software is called "Health Code Demo", which can be downloaded on the Google App Store and applied to Android phones. Screenshots from netizens show that there are more than 1,000 downloads from its launch on May 6, 2020 to January 11, 2021.
The software developer named "morrowind xie" stated in the software description that the software can simulate different display styles of health codes, resumption codes, and pass codes in various regions, and can also display the status of green code, yellow code, and red code, and Custom display data, such as region, city, name, etc.
On the afternoon of January 12, a reporter from the Beijing News inquired about the Google App Store and found that the software had been offline and was currently not available for download.
On the foreign code website github, a reporter from the Beijing News found that "morrowind xie" uploaded the source code of the "health code demo" software on its homepage.
Website records show that the initial version of the software was launched in May 2020, and it has undergone more than a dozen iterative updates so far. The latest update was 20 days ago.
The developer has been taken criminal enforcement measures
At 23:41 on January 13, the official Weibo of the Information Office of the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government issued a notice stating that, after investigation by the Hangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, Xie Moumou (male, 41 years old) had developed a “health” without authorization in April and May 2020. "Code Demo" APP and uploaded to the application market seriously disrupted social order.
At present, Xie XX has been taken criminal compulsory measures by the Xihu District Public Security Bureau, and the case is under further investigation.
A reporter from the Beijing News found that Xie had used the "morrowind xie" screen name on multiple platforms.
On a workplace social software, Xie introduced himself and said that he graduated from Zhejiang University in 2001 with a major in physics.
Since 2004, Xie has worked in Huaguan Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. and once served as the technical director.
In 2018, Xie XX resigned from the company and subsequently worked in a technology company in Hangzhou, where he was engaged in program development.
A reporter from the Beijing News learned from a person familiar with the matter that Xie had been taken away by the police on the 12th and logged out of the company address book.
