  • The president of Pays-de-la-Loire is very critical of the government's choice to generalize the curfew at 6 p.m.

  • Christelle Morancais fears the “terrible consequences for the economy” in her region, rather spared by the coronavirus epidemic.

She had already raised the tone to ask for faster deconfinement in her region, following the first confinement.

This Thursday evening, the president of Pays-de-la-Loire (LR) Christelle Mor Anglais was once again very critical about the government's choice to advance the curfew throughout the country.

“The generalization of the curfew at 6 pm is a mistake,” she wrote.

If the measure gets along perfectly in the territories where the incidence rate of the virus is very high, it is not justified where it is the lowest.

According to the latest figures communicated by the ARS, the incidence rate, which has risen sharply in the region in recent days, has reached 108.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (it was 187.7 Wednesday in France).

Christelle Morancais, who fears "terrible consequences for the economy", also believes that the measure "will not prevent regroupings in public transport or in food shops".

“Every hour worked is an hour saved to save businesses and jobs,” she thinks.

No outbreak in the region

The bell sound is obviously different at the ARS.

, its director Jean-Jacques Coiplet explains: “The region is perhaps a little more spared but remember that in the past, these incidence rates of more than 100 were horrifying, and rightly so.

Even if there is no outbreak, the risk is still there, and specifically among the most vulnerable.

Our curfew dossier

In several departments, the virus currently seems to be spreading more among those over 65, such as in Mayenne where the incidence rate climbs to 185 for this age group, against 148 for the rest of the population.

“However, the figures seem to be on the plateau,” says Dr. Pierre Blaise, scientific director at ARS.

Contrary to what we feared a few days ago, there is no real explosion linked to the Christmas or New Year celebrations.
