Many places issued the "Non-necessary not returning home during the Spring Festival" initiative——

Chinese New Year on the spot becomes a conscious choice

  Our reporter Liu Chun Muyang

As the Spring Festival approaches, in the face of the severe and complex situation of prevention and control of the winter epidemic, many initiatives have been issued: celebrate the holiday at the workplace and not leave the local area if necessary.

In this regard, how do people choose?

Recently, new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia have appeared in many places in China, and clusters of epidemics have occurred in some areas. The situation of winter epidemic prevention and control is still severe and complex.

At the same time, as the Spring Festival is approaching, the large-scale population movement has increased the pressure on epidemic prevention and control during the Spring Festival.

The National Health Commission and many places have spoken out, advocating not to leave the local area for holidays and non-essential reasons.

"Can I still go home for the Spring Festival?" has become a hot topic recently.

As of press time, 29 provinces have proposed to celebrate the festival on the spot, and Beijing is one of the first regions to issue related initiatives.

At the press conference on the prevention and control of the new coronavirus pneumonia in Beijing on December 25, 2020, Chen Bei, deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, stated that the movement of people should be reduced during the New Year’s Day and the Spring Festival, and citizens should be encouraged to spend time in Beijing. In the new year, party and government officials took the lead in celebrating the festival in Beijing.

Xi Qi, who works for a cultural industry company in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, is from Tangshan, Hebei. Because he is close to Beijing, there are many ways to go home.

"My company responded to the call and recommended that employees spend the holidays in Beijing, but there are no hard and fast rules." Xi Qi said, planning to wait and see the development of the epidemic and policy changes before making a decision.

Liu Muzhen, who works in a public institution in Beijing, does not have many choices.

His hometown, Xingtai, Hebei, has entered a wartime state due to multiple new cases.

As of January 12, there are currently 21 confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia and 5 asymptomatic infections in Nangong City, Xingtai City.

Deng Suxue, deputy mayor of Xingtai City, said that the local epidemic prevention and control has not yet seen an inflection point. As the Spring Festival approaches, migrant workers and students will return to their hometowns, and the epidemic prevention and control situation facing Xingtai City is still severe.

Liu Muzhen told reporters that his unit also recommended that employees spend the New Year in Beijing, but it is not a mandatory requirement.

"Although it is not mandatory, I have no plans to go back and add chaos." Liu Muzhen said, mainly because he is worried that the subsequent epidemic prevention and control policies will change, and even if he goes back, he may face the risk of being quarantined.

"I have some fellow villagers who go to school and work in Beijing. If everyone does not go back, they will spend the New Year together in Beijing."

The reporter found in the interview that this year's Spring Festival took the initiative to respond to the call, and there are not a few people planning to celebrate the festival on the spot.

Tan Yuru, who works for an information technology company in Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang), is from Zhenjiang, Jiangsu. Although there have been no new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Hangzhou and his hometown, Zhenjiang, he still decided to stay in Hangzhou for the New Year.

On January 10th, Hangzhou High-tech Zone (Binjiang) issued the "Proposal to Enterprises and Employees in the District", encouraging companies to take measures such as staying on the job, staying on the salary, taking the lead in shifting peak hours, and improving dining conditions. , Caring and guiding non-local employees as far as possible to "live in for the New Year" and "stay in Hangzhou for the New Year", and not leave Hangzhou if necessary.

"I learned about the policies of Hangzhou and Zhenjiang, and decided to respond to the government's call. The two places are not far away by car, and returning after the holiday is the same. Epidemic prevention and control are important, and parents also understand it." Tan Yuru said.

Among the initiatives issued by various localities, "unnecessary not to leave the local area" is a high-frequency word, but there are still a considerable number of people who have to leave for various reasons.

"I encountered a'necessary' situation." Wang Tong, a media person working in Shenzhen, seemed helpless when interviewed by reporters.

Wang Tong, who has just been promoted to mother in March 2020, is from Chifeng, Inner Mongolia.

After giving birth, Wang Tong's parents have been in Shenzhen to help her take care of the children.

In December 2020, the parents returned to Chifeng with their children under the age of one year in advance.

Due to work reasons, Wang Tong originally planned to return to Chifeng at the end of January. However, due to the epidemic, Chifeng also entered a wartime state on the afternoon of January 8, which added a lot of twists and turns to Wang Tong's plan to go home.

The Shenzhen Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters issued a notice a few days ago to support various employers in adopting incentive measures such as peak holiday and additional holiday allowances to allow more employees in Shenzhen to stay for the New Year.

Wang Tong told reporters that he was willing to respond to the call to stay in Shenzhen for the New Year, but because he wanted to take the child back to Shenzhen, he had to go back to Chifeng.

"I plan to stay at home after I go back and try not to go out. Everyone is responsible for epidemic prevention and control," Wang Tong said.

In addition to local initiatives, relevant experts also gave risk warnings.

Zhang Boli, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said recently that it is now in the cold season and is very suitable for the survival of the virus. I hope everyone will gather less during the Spring Festival and not arrange travel without special circumstances.

Zeng Guang, a member of the high-level expert group of the National Health Commission, said that the Spring Festival in 2021 is very critical, and everyone must not be careless in personal epidemic protection.

As the Spring Festival approaches, it is foreseeable that the epidemic prevention and control measures in various places will only be stricter.

When ordinary people are faced with the choice of "returning" or "not returning", many cities have also introduced specific measures to provide service guarantees for the "in situ Chinese New Year".
