In the new chapters of the veteran series, produced by RTVE in collaboration with Grupo Ganga, the action will take place in two time lines: on the one hand, it will narrate the future of Spain in 1992, with the Seville Expo and the Barcelona Olympic Games as a backdrop;
And in parallel, he will travel to 2020 to tell how the Alcántara family faces the coronavirus crisis.

talks about the present from the past, it is a mirror in which we see ourselves, and this time, more than ever", explained the script coordinator and director of the first chapter of this installment, Joaquín Oristrell, at a press conference.

Cuéntame
without the pandemic being present, it seemed to us that it was what we had to tell.
It is not opportunistic, it is opportune,
"he added about his decision to combine both stories throughout the season.
In short, Carlos Alcántara, now played by the actor who has given him voice since the series' premiere,
Carlos Hipólito
, will return from New York to San Genaro to take care of the family.
His sister María, who will play

, will be one of the doctors and is part of the professionals who stand up in hospitals to the advance of the virus.
Imanol Arias and Ana Duato will continue to play Merche and Antonio, now in their early thirties, while they resolve their problems with the Treasury.

From the National Court they explained that Arias entered the Treasury about 2.3 million euros after starting the proceedings, and Ana Duato returned about 800,000 euros.
Among the 31 accused for these events, there is also
Miguel Ángel Bernardeu, Duato's husband and producer of
Cuéntame
, for which the Prosecutor's Office is asking for 18 years in prison, accused of defrauding some 700,000 euros.
Although Judge Ismael Moreno issued the opening of the oral trial last June, the coronavirus crisis has delayed the process, which will resume this year, probably coinciding with the broadcast of the series.
Already in 2016, Hacienda alerted the RTVE management that continuing to see the actors as protagonists of
Cuéntame
was a "serious ethical problem."
But public television has continued to renew the series and counting on Arias and Duato.
