Last year, the channel had first chosen a song, then assigned an artist, in this case Tom Leeb.

But this year the process is completely different, as casting director Wladimir Pandolfo explains.

"We received more than 700 songs. The idea was that each artist already has a universe of his own," he says.

"That's why I'm proud to have a very diverse cast."

"Create a moment of communion"

Wladimir Pandolfo adds the criteria according to which he chose these 12 songs.

"The basic premise was that we wanted an artist who already had a song," he recalls.

"Eurovision is a moment of live, so you have to have a performer and a song that are memorable, but that can also create a moment of communion."

Eurovision France, you decide

, will be presented by Stéphane Bern and Laurence Boccolini, January 30 on France 2. The Eurovision Grand Final, for which France is immediately qualified as a founding country, will be broadcast live on Saturday March 6.
