The CDU politician Volker Kauder has criticized the way the European Union deals with refugees in Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
"Every refugee is in the image of God and every refugee must be treated that way when he is with us," said Kauder of the "Zeit" supplement "Christ and the World".
“And with us that means not only in Germany, but in Europe.” What is happening in Greece or Bosnia-Herzegovina is “a shame for Europe”.
In Bosnia-Herzegovina, after the closure of the Lipa refugee camp in the Una-Sana canton on December 23, many people are homeless.
The camp was closed by the authorities because it was not winter-proof.

According to the International Organization for Migration, around 3,000 people are currently sleeping outdoors on the Bosnian border with Croatia when the temperature is below zero.

The Frankfurt aid and human rights organization Medico International warned on Wednesday that the imminent cold snap in the eastern Aegean would pose a threat to the 7,300 refugees in the Kara Tepe refugee camp on Lesbos, which was built after the fire in Moria.
According to the UNHCR, a total of 19,100 refugees and asylum seekers are currently on the Aegean islands.
Kauder said he was ashamed of what was happening in Europe.
