A complicated start to the year for Dustin Diamond.

The actor, who rose to prominence as the hilarious Screech in

Saved by Gong

, has been hospitalized, according to TMZ.

The site claims the comedian was taken into care in Florida after experiencing pain all over his body and "general malaise."

The publication claims that while doctors have yet to officially diagnose anything, tests are underway because his medical team fears it may be cancer.

A source close to the "file" told TMZ that Dustin Diamond's family has a medical history, his own mother having died of breast cancer.

Alone in the world

After the end of

Saved by the Gong

in 1993, Dustin Diamond did not really stand out for his acting career.

His most striking "role" was undoubtedly in his own sextape, in 2006, which had earned him a resounding bad buzz.

After having moved away from the other stars of the cult series of the 80s and 90s, the interpreter of Screech is the only one not to participate in the reboot of

Saved by the Gong

, broadcast on Peacock, the NBC streaming platform.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen, and even Lark Voorhies (a time announced as not participating in the project) have all reprized their respective characters.

We do not know the reason for his absence from the cast but the first season, broadcast since last November, makes several references to the character of Screech, and his presence in the rest of the program is not excluded.

Dustin Diamond has yet to comment on his state of health.
