The vaccination campaign is accelerating, as in Nancy

The city of Nancy began on Tuesday morning to vaccinate people over 75 years of age outside nursing homes against Covid-19, almost a week before the start of the national campaign, according to the town hall, which however encourages patients interested in wait until Wednesday.

A flaw in the Doctolib appointment system has allowed some patients to make one on Tuesday to be vaccinated, while vaccination is normally reserved for healthcare staff.

After a sluggish start, the vaccination campaign is gradually picking up its speed.

According to figures from the Ministry of Health unveiled Monday, 189,834 people have now received a first injection in the country, including more than 45,000 in 24 hours.

The stated target is 400,000 people vaccinated by the end of the week.

In addition, private medical appointment booking platforms (Doctolib, Maiia, Keldoc) have been designated as official partners of the State for online appointment booking and the management of vaccination centers.

Because from January 18, vaccination will be open to all "patients over 75 years of age outside nursing homes, as well as" firefighters and nursing assistants over 50 ".

However, tensions remain high on this issue.

Vulnerable people, but who have not passed the fateful age of 50, worry that they cannot be vaccinated until late.

What is an RNA vaccine?

Can it modify our genetic code?

No collective immunity in 2021, warns WHO

Massive vaccination campaigns, in the face of the galloping progression of Covid-19, will not be enough to guarantee collective immunity in 2021, the WHO warned on Monday, for whom masks, social distancing and hand washing will still be the daily life of the 'humanity "at least until the end of this year".

"We are not going to achieve (...) collective immunity in 2021", launched the scientific officer of the WHO, Soumya Swaminathan.

The deployment of vaccines, when it comes to billions of doses, "takes time," she said, urging "to have a little patience."
