Volunteers of college students' telephone flow adjustment: never follow the flow adjustment guide to ask questions mechanically

As of 16:00 on January 12, when interviewed by a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily, Xie Jin and his partner in the same group had made 21 calls on the same day.

One person asks questions, one person records, and the two alternate.

Whenever the call is connected, the questioner and the answering person will try to keep their ears close to the telephone receiver.

"Why don't you turn on the phone and hands-free?" Facing reporters' questions, the 27-year-old graduate student in the School of Public Health of Hebei Medical University seemed quite serious.

"We must protect the privacy of the interviewee." He emphasized, "This is the principle of circulation."

Beginning on January 8, Hebei Medical University has dispatched three batches of 59 college student volunteers to rush to the front line of the epidemic to participate in the flow of the new crown pneumonia epidemic.

"25 of our 26 people are PhD and master students." Zhang Cunhui, a doctoral student in the School of Public Health of Hebei Medical University, who went to Xinle City, Shijiazhuang to assist in the epidemiological investigation, told reporters that the post-95s are the main ones and the youngest 22 years old.

After passing the second nucleic acid test, 26 volunteers were immediately divided into 10 groups to cooperate in the work.

According to Zhang Cunhui, the volunteers are mainly involved in data analysis, key case tracking analysis and telephone flow adjustment.

"Telephone flow is never asking questions mechanically in accordance with the flow guide." As a "spokesperson" for 25 students, Zhang Cunhui said that to do this job well, good communication skills are required.

They need to stabilize the emotion of the respondent within a few minutes, let the other party open the chatterbox, and quickly screen out the key information they need in the "chat" with the other party.

In order to help the interviewees, especially some elderly people, recall the people they have been in contact with, the places they have visited and even the specific time points in the past ten days, they often have to make a phone call for an hour and several phone calls to confirm each other.

After each phone call, Xie Jin, his partner, and the audit gatekeepers carefully studied them, trying to find the places and people that overlapped at the same time point in the track, and provided more clues and help for the prevention and control work.

For individual respondents who do not cooperate, they will also coordinate with relevant departments to determine the trajectory of each other's actions.
