JR East and Tokyo Metro have summarized the figures on how the number of railway users in the Tokyo metropolitan area up to the 11th has changed in the state of emergency.

According to JR East, comparing the three consecutive holidays from 9th to 11th of this month with the same period of the previous year before the spread of the new coronavirus,

▽ Limited express on conventional lines

▽ Yamanote Line decreased by 61%.



On the other hand, on holidays immediately after the state of emergency was declared in April last year, the number


of limited express trains on the Shinkansen and conventional lines decreased by 92% from the same period of the previous year, and the number on the


Yamanote line decreased by 85%.



Also, on all Tokyo Metro subway lines, these three consecutive holidays have decreased by more than 50% compared to the same period of the previous year.



Holidays immediately after the state of emergency in April last year were reduced by approximately 80% compared to the same period of the previous year.



As a result, each company is less likely to refrain from using this three-day holiday than the previous state of emergency.
