The day before, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba invited Russia to take part in the summit of the so-called Crimean Platform, which is to be held in May.

This plot has a long background.

The creation of the platform itself has been repeatedly announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at various international forums and meetings.

The USA, EU, Turkey and a number of other Western countries have already expressed their readiness to join the initiative.

The goal of the project, according to First Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova, is "to consolidate the policy of non-recognition of the occupation of Crimea by the international community."

Dmitry Kuleba himself, who is responsible for the implementation of the ambitious plan, claims that the site will be focused around five priorities: security, including freedom of navigation, ensuring effective sanctions against Russia, protecting human rights and international humanitarian law, protecting educational, cultural and religious rights, and also overcoming the negative impact of "temporary occupation on the economy and the environment."

It is obvious that the plan for the “de-occupation” of Crimea does not exist in principle at all.

As recently as last year, Russian officials, including the president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov, spoke quite definitely about the Crimean Platform: the Crimean topic was closed for Russia once and for all and no one intends to discuss it with Ukraine or anyone else.

And this time the reaction was exactly the same.

Why is Kiev so actively disperse an expensive and meaningless project from the point of view of the possibilities of its implementation?

Presumably, the current Ukrainian leadership is trying to solve several problems with his help.

Europe is clearly dissatisfied with the fact that the peace talks on the Donbass have reached a dead end, while France and Germany, although they do not directly accuse Ukraine of sabotage, cannot help but realize that Zelensky is one of the nine points of the final communiqué of the Paris summit in the Normandy format partially fulfilled only two.

Recently, the Ukrainian authorities have been openly saying that peace is possible only on their terms, which directly contradict the Minsk agreements.

The expectation is that drawing attention at the international level to the topic of the "occupation" of Crimea will help to take into the background the problem of Donbass and Kiev's refusal of its obligations.

Another significant aspect is the material side of the matter.

It is assumed that to finance various activities within the framework of the project, the Crimean Platform Fund will be created at the expense of international donor contributions.

It's about attracting grants.

The Forbidden Ukraine Telegram channel lists the beneficiaries: “Everyone wants to make a difference: the Ukrainian state, local grant-eaters, as well as representatives of the organization“ Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People ”banned in Russia *.

Everyone wants money, and preferably out of thin air. "

And finally, the last moment in history is the desire to please the radical nationalist camp, which has already become an obsessive mania of the current leadership of Ukraine, which, according to Ukrainian expert Mykhailo Pogrebinsky, is extremely unhappy with the fact that the issue of Crimea has actually been removed from the international agenda.

It is this group that is the customer, and even the author of the idea of the "Crimean Platform".

She lives with the illusion that Russia is on the eve of disintegration, after which the peninsula can be easily returned to Ukraine.

Despite the expressed support, the West will not provide any assistance to Kiev.

Simply because the Crimea theme does not provide any space for real action.

Moscow's position is unequivocal and unshakable.

Banging your head against a wall is not fun with zero effectiveness.

Therefore, joining the “Crimean Platform” and participating in its events is a purely formal decision that will not have any practical consequences.

That is, none at all.

We can say that the project is quite typical for Zelensky's team.

Noisy, widely publicized, in fact it turns out to be a typical simulacrum designed to create the appearance of active political activity.

This practice has long become a routine for the President of Ukraine and his entourage.

When you cannot do anything, inflate a giant soap bubble, preferably with the involvement of various international players, who will confirm by their participation that the matter is indeed important and very necessary.
