According to Wu Hui, deputy director of the Hainan Provincial Climate Center, Hainan has not observed snowy weather since 1951, but ice or frost sometimes occurs when the local temperature is low. According to historical data statistics from the National Meteorological Observatory of Hainan Province, the annual extreme minimum temperature in various parts of Hainan Island is between -1.4 and 6.2℃, which is low in the middle and high in the surroundings, with the north being lower than the south.
The lowest temperature in Baisha was -1.4°C (January 15, 1963), the second lowest in Wuzhishan and Qiongzhong was 0.1°C (January 2, 1974), and 0.4°C occurred in Danzhou (January 11, 1955); The temperature in Wanning in the southeast is 6.2℃ (January 15, 1963); Changjiang, Tunchang, Wenchang, Sanya and Lingshui are 3.0~6.0℃; in other areas, it is 1.0~3.0℃.
The annual extreme minimum temperature on Yongxing Island reaches 15.3℃.
Except for the annual extreme minimum temperature in Changjiang and Wenchang in December, the other regions all appeared in January.

Frost may appear in the higher mountain top areas of the three cities and counties of Wuzhishan, Qiongzhong, and Baisha.
