A few days ago, in order to recognize the significant collective contributions made by members of the police force, after consulting the Security Bureau and the Civil Service Bureau, the Police Force issued the 2020 Headquarters Circular No. 8 "Hong Kong Police Special Operations Medal."

Staff of all ranks who meet any of the following conditions can be recommended to be awarded the "Wave Walker Action Medal", including the long-term face of unprecedented challenges while still upholding professionalism and going all out to restore the rule of law and order in society ; Be brave in the face of obvious and imminent danger; provide excellent support services to those involved in the operation.

  It is understood that there are many people who directly or indirectly participated in the "Operation Wave Walker". More than 10,000 people have been awarded medals, accounting for 1/3 of the police force.

One side of the medal is a police officer wearing a riot gear, a masked helmet and a shield holding a shield. The other side is a police badge, embroidered with orange or purple stripes.

Among them, orange represents "courage" and purple represents "wisdom".

All police officers who have served in the first, second or third echelon, or have been in the regional response team or headquarters response team for at least 30 days on or before March 31, 2020, will be awarded with orange embroidery after being recommended and approved Medal with horizontal stripes; if other police officers also make contributions, they will be awarded medals embroidered with purple horizontal stripes if they have worked in related positions for more than 30 days.
