Sidewalks turned into skating rinks, residents struggling to clear the streets with shovels and pickaxes: two days after a historic snowstorm, Madrid and part of Spain remained partly blocked and did not hope for a return to the normal before several days.

Caught off guard by the intensity of this unprecedented snowfall, which gave the appearance of a ski resort to one of the largest European cities, the authorities still had not cleared entire districts of Madrid on Monday.

Short of salt and with too little snow plow, they were concentrating on the main axes, which began to be cleared Monday afternoon to pass the emergency services and the trucks necessary to supply the city.

Despite the multiple problems it has caused, many Madrileños have seen the snow as a breath of fresh air after ten months of restrictions due to the pandemic.

After this unreal and timeless weekend, the cold snap, with lows of -13 ° expected Tuesday in the center of the country, transformed snow into ice everywhere, with its attendant dangers.

Back in pictures in the Spanish capital transformed into "Moscow".
