Regulated prices for the sale of electricity could increase by 1.73% on February 1 for individuals in mainland France, according to a document from the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE).

For professionals, this increase would be 3.02% including tax, according to a preparatory document from CRE, consulted on Monday by AFP and confirming information from RMC.

Secondly, the Commission will have to formalize its pricing proposal to the government, responsible for deciding.

16 euros more per year on average per household

Justifying its costing, CRE, which is based on the evolution of costs, cites an increase in energy supply costs, in a global context of rising commodity prices.

It also notes an increase in the cost of marketing due to the health crisis, as well as an upsurge in bad debts (representing alone + 0.5%).

For a household, the calculated increase would represent on average 16 additional euros per year.

While CRE still has to consult the stakeholders (energy companies, associations, etc.) during a hearing on January 12, it will then be up to the government to decide, on the basis of its proposal.
