Two men died in a fire that broke out in a Roma camp in Essonne on the night of Saturday to Sunday, firefighters said on Monday.

Around 5 a.m., twenty firefighters intervened in Bondoufle to extinguish the fire in this precarious housing camp of about 250 m2, they specified.

Almost 50 m2 were completely destroyed by the flames.

The fire affected a total of twenty people and caused the death of two men between the ages of 40 and 60.

An investigation was opened for "intentional homicides", according to the prosecutor's office in Essonne.

But "everything can change depending on the autopsies" which are expected Tuesday, added the prosecution.
