Regarding the endangered Japanese grouse, the Ministry of the Environment is proceeding with a revival plan such as releasing parents and children brought from another place to the Central Alps, and it is expected that the number will increase steadily in the future. ..

The endangered Japanese grouse, a national special natural monument, was said to have become extinct in the Central Alps about half a century ago, but a female was found three years ago, and the Ministry of the Environment is proceeding with a revival plan. I am.

In July last year, females found in the Central Alps were warmed to eight eggs donated by a grouse artificial breeding facility, but five hatched chicks were confirmed to be annihilated.

After that, in August, 19 parents and children were transferred by helicopter from the relatively abundant Northern Alps to the Central Alps and released, and at least 12 birds are expected to grow steadily.

The Ministry of the Environment is aiming to increase the number of grouse in the Central Alps to 100 over a period of about five years, and it is expected that released parents and children will breed and lead to a resurrection.

The Ministry of the Environment is considering raising the breeding parents and children in cages for about a month to protect them from foreign enemies, and plans for the future will be decided at a meeting to be held next month.
