Kulturnyheterna has previously reported that an artist, nominated for the music gala P3 Guld, has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping of another artist.

Since the arrest, Swedish radio P3 has gone from playing the artist's songs 5-8 times a day to 0-2 times a day, something P3 Nyheter was first more to pay attention to.

This is despite an earlier announcement that P3 will continue to play the songs on the radio, and that the channel makes its song choices more from the work than what the artist stands for.

- We will continue to play the songs, but it is true that we have chosen to play them less often, says Anna-Karin Larsson, music manager on Swedish radio to Kulturnyhetera.

Why did you not tell me?

- We usually do not go out and tell about changes in our song lists.

"Must be responsive"

According to Anna-Karin Larsson, the reason why P3 has reduced the rotation of the artist's songs is that the reactions and news situation around the artist have intensified since the arrest.

How often the songs are played is a balance between the upset feelings of the radio listeners and Swedish radio's attitude that the work goes before an artist stands for.

- We must stand by the decision to play the songs and at the same time be sensitive to those who are upset that we play the music, says Anna-Karin Larsson and continues:

- This is not the first time an artist has done or been accused of something that Swedish radio absolutely does not support.

But we mean that the songs are a different thing than the actions that these people perform.

The detained artist is still nominated for the music gala P3 Gold, which takes place on March 20, but that may change in the near future.

- We have a discussion about it but have no information at the moment, says Anna-Karin Larsson.
