Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, January 8 (Reporter Zhou Wenqi) The Hong Kong police confirmed to Xinhua News Agency reporters on the 8th that the National Security Service of the Police Department had arrested two men who were serving sentences and remand in other cases on suspicion of violating Hong Kong’s national security. The law is about "crime of subverting state power."
According to the Hong Kong police, the two men arrested were 24 and 47 years old.
According to many Hong Kong media reports, the arrested men are Huang Zhifeng, the leader of the disbanded "Hong Kong Independence" organization "Hong Kong All Wills", and the opposition politician Tan Dezhi.
Huang Zhifeng was sentenced to 13 and a half months in prison in December 2020 for suspected of besieging the Hong Kong police headquarters in June 2019. He is currently serving his sentence in prison.
Tan Dezhi was charged with multiple crimes earlier and was refused bail by the court. He is currently remanded in prison awaiting trial.
