Nearly 500 people attended a concert in Barcelona (Spain) on December 12 as part of a study, reports

El Pais

.

While the world of culture is currently at a standstill over much of the planet, the encouraging results tend to prove that compromises are possible.

Sing and dance

The Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona, the German University Hospital Trias i Pujol in Badalone and the Foundation for the Fight against AIDS and Infectious Diseases have a strict health protocol in place.

Before entering the room, the 463 participants had to have tested negative for Covid-19 and wear an FFP2 mask.

The room was ventilated, the temperature was monitored and hydroalcoholic gel was available.

Security guards had also been hired to monitor crowd movements, but social distancing was not mandatory.

The participants were able to sing and dance as they liked.

Eight days later, they had to take a test again.

All of them were negative.

In addition, another group of 496 people, also followed by academics since the date of the concert without having attended, also had to perform a second test.

Two positive cases were identified.

The researchers thus concluded that reopening cultural venues would not present an import risk of the epidemic spreading, as long as certain conditions are met.

Asked about this on Franceinfo, the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot studied the experiment "with great interest" and plans to talk about it this Friday with entertainment professionals.
