Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Thursday the possibility of obtaining an "immediate" work stoppage on the Health Insurance website if a person presents symptoms of Covid-19 or if they are in contact.

A source from the Ministry of Health specifies that a positive test will be necessary to benefit from the device.

An "immediate" work stoppage to "gain in efficiency": this is one of Prime Minister Jean Castex's announcements on Thursday.

From January 10, a person with symptoms of Covid-19 or being in contact will be able to obtain an “immediate” work stoppage, compensated without a waiting day, via the website of the Health Insurance, Ameli.fr.

A system already in place since early October by people identified as contact cases.

On the other hand, on the symptoms, the Prime Minister remained unclear.

A positive test as a condition

Is a itchy throat or a runny nose enough to trigger a sick leave?

Apparently not.

According to a source contacted by Europe 1 at the Ministry of Health, it will be necessary to have carried out an antigen test or PCR and it will be necessary that this test be positive to trigger the device.

The objective: to accelerate the isolation of positive people, by relying on the now easy access to tests, and on the speed of their results.
