After the defection of the Mediapro group, the Professional Football League has still not found a solvent broadcaster for Ligue 1 and League 2 matches. Discussions with Canal + drag on.

The LFP has made a gesture in favor of an agreement: the encrypted channel will broadcast, with Téléfoot, the Champions Trophy on January 13.

Who will broadcast the French football championship?

After the defection of the Sino-Spanish group Mediapro, recorded on December 22 by the Nanterre commercial court, the Professional Football League (LFP) is looking for a buyer for the TV rights to the matches of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. And the Discussions started with Canal +, which already holds two L1 matches per day for 330 million euros per year via an alliance with the specialized channel BeIN Sports, are not moving quickly.

Time is running out for clubs

According to

the newspaper

The encrypted channel, which should recover the rights ceded by the Mediapro group, is in no hurry.

The Champions Trophy on Canal and Téléfoot

A sign that the LFP wants to spare its main interlocutor, it has granted him the rights to broadcast the Champions Trophy, which will pit PSG against OM on January 13.

This trophy, which each year pits the reigning French champion against the winner of the Coupe de France or even the 2nd in Ligue 1 in the event of a double, returns to Canal + for the first time since 2012.
