As environmental pollution caused by plastic waste becomes a problem, Kobe City has decided to introduce a designated garbage bag made from used PET bottle caps.

According to the city of Kobe, this is the first such initiative in Japan.

Kobe City has decided to use a garbage bag made from PET bottle caps as a designated item because it needs to further recycle it to reduce plastic waste.

Three used PET bottle caps are used for each piece, and although the color is turbid, it is possible to produce a garbage bag that is almost the same as the conventional product.

First, we will prepare 50,000 bags for burning garbage of 45 liters and sell them on a trial basis in the city from the beginning of next month.

Not only does this garbage bag promote recycling, but it also reduces carbon dioxide emissions during manufacturing and transportation by about half compared to conventional products.

According to the city of Kobe, this is the first designated garbage bag in Japan that uses a PET bottle cap.

On the other hand, the price is about 20% higher than the conventional product, so we would like to sell it in parallel with the conventional product, verify the reaction of the citizens, and then consider full-scale introduction.

Yasuhiro Hamazumi, Chief of Planning Promotion, Environment Bureau, Kobe City, said, "Citizens' cooperation is important for solving the problem of plastic waste. I would like to call for its use to protect the beautiful sea and nature of Kobe." I will.
