Recently, the Manduan Brigade of the Forest Police Detachment of the Public Security Bureau of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province, received a “special” wounded from citizens of the jurisdiction and requested help.

What was sent was a big bird that looked like an owl. The citizen claimed to have found it on the road. In order to avoid being crushed and injured by passing vehicles, he got out of the car and picked it up and turned it in.

The police identified and carefully inspected the bird and determined that it was called the short-eared owl, which was a second-level national key protected animal with slight wounds on its wings.

The police immediately invited a veterinarian to treat and feed the short-eared owl. After recovery, they will find a suitable place to release it to nature.
