Winter always accompanies the hardest task of letting go of the warmth of the mattress and blanket and going for a jog.

As the temperatures drop, the most sports enthusiasts start to slow down.

If you struggle to maintain the exercise schedule you excelled in during the summer months, you are not alone.

Although the weather is cold, it is a good time to adopt a strict exercise schedule, and here are four steps that can be useful to stimulate exercise during the cold season:

Get the right supplies:

Although this may sound like more ordinary advice, it makes a lot of impact.

Gloves and a headband to cover the ears will reduce the risk of catching a cold, according to Hindustan Times.

Set target:

Focusing on a goal is the key to maintaining motivation.

Set fitness goals and remind yourself of how you will feel when you finish the set mileage.

Find a friend:

With friends it gets easier, even if that means jogging or jogging in the morning, and then chatting or enjoying a cup of tea.

Make things fun:

"Always remember to vary the exercises to include bodyweight / strength training, or grounding practices such as hatha yoga," says Namita Peparaya, a yoga and Ayurveda (alternative medicine) teacher and founder of Yuganama.

And grounding is the practice of attaching the body to the ground by touching the skin with a conductive material, such as: grass and sand.
