The Karlsruhe police lived up to their name as a friend and helper and looked after a hungry elderly woman.

The single 90-year-old turned to the officials for help because her refrigerator was empty and she had nothing to eat, the officials reported on Tuesday.

"She can no longer go shopping because of her walking difficulties."

Police officers found only rotten meatballs in the refrigerator.

"When asked, the lady explained that she had felt very hungry in the past few days and had therefore eaten everything," the police report said.

Because the woman's carer, who had already been informed, only had time in the afternoon, the officers bought the bare minimum on Monday.

And that's not all: with a few knowledgeable movements, the police officers were able to get the 90-year-old's supposedly broken television back on.

A police spokeswoman said that the supervisor was not responsible for any negligence.

The elderly woman simply ate a little more than expected.

The officials, in turn, would have their expenses reimbursed.
