The Saudi writer Zainab Al-Khudairi said that her tendency to write about the worlds and spaces of social networking sites comes as an expression of the place that these sites have come to represent in people's lives, especially since Arab literary works did not address this topic to a degree that reflects the impact of this phenomenon on the lives of societies today.
Al-Khudairi explained that social media, especially Twitter, in her view represents the reality of life and the various human figures and models we see in it, considering that her approach to life on Twitter in her novel “On the palm of a tweet” is not an anatomy of this world. An attempt to monitor it, as for the anatomical writing of it, could take place years later, after the experience of social media gained more maturity.
The Saudi writer added, during the virtual evening organized by the “Bahr al-Thaqafa” Foundation to discuss her novel, the day before yesterday, that “(Twitter) represents life and society, and I call it“ the street ”now, because a person encounters models for different personalities, and therefore he must deal cautiously.

The owner of “Hashtag” and “On my own to raise the longing” and other publications, she chose to be “On the palm of tweeting” a short novel “Novela”, because this literary genre is in line with the nature of “Twitter” which relies on short tweets and its short life, explaining that the means of communication Social and digital books, and other digital media, are nothing but means of transportation, and various means of presenting literary content through them, such as books and traditional cultural forums, and the smart writer must take advantage of all the tools to present his literary production and reach the reader.
She added: “Social media was able to transform our societies, and therefore it was necessary to deal with it as a novelist, and to approach this virtual world, and I chose (Twitter) without other social networking sites because it is preferred by the Saudis, while the multiplicity of characters in the novel came to reflect the multiplicity of personalities. The virtual world, and some trying to achieve its existence by claiming capabilities and features that exceed the capabilities of his real personality ».
