The price of the monthly Disney + subscription will drop from 6.99 euros to 8.99 euros at the end of February.

The reason for this increase of two euros?

The streaming platform will expand its offer of films and series on February 23 with the arrival in France of a new service: Star.

This offer will be in addition to Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic content.

Launched in France, among other European countries, Star will be a sort of international version of the American Hulu site, intended for an adult audience.

Its content will come from "the group's various studios, including Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Studios, 20th Television and Touchstone, to which French and European content will be added," specifies Disney.

This catalog enrichment is a consequence of the acquisition by the Disney group of most of the assets of 21st Century Fox.

It foreshadows ever fiercer competition between streaming services, particularly American streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix or Apple TV +.

Disney + announced in December that it had exceeded its objectives with the conquest of 86.8 million subscribers worldwide since its launch in November 2019.
