At the Appi Kogen Ski Resort in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, we saw families enjoying skiing and snowboarding.

However, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the number of customers during the year-end and New Year holidays is only about 70% of the average year.

Appi Kogen Ski Resort is known as one of the leading ski resorts in Iwate Prefecture, which is visited by many tourists from overseas.

This season, as a countermeasure against the infection of the new coronavirus, the capacity of gondola and lift is limited to about half.

We saw families enjoying skiing and snowboarding for three days, but no tourists from overseas were seen.

According to the ski resort, the number of customers during the year-end and New Year holidays is only about 70% of the average year.

At ski resorts, we cannot expect tourists from overseas to visit for the time being, so we are focusing on attracting tourists living in the Tohoku region by discounting lift tickets.

A 39-year-old woman from Aomori Prefecture, who visited with four family members, said, "I am also careful about how children play in Corona. The whole family was able to slide and refresh."

Hayato Abe, manager of the public relations department of "Iwate Hotel & Resort", which operates the ski resort, said, "I'm taking measures against infectious diseases, so I'd be happy if you could come and slip to stretch your wings."
