He lost his inspiration.

This Friday, Jean Imbert announced the death of his grandmother at the age of 94 with the publication of a long text paying tribute to him on Instagram.

“Since yesterday, I cry like a child […].

I watch the photos, the videos on repeat, I remember every memory, every Christmas, every Sunday.

"Thanks to her, the chef had the desire to make gastronomy," [his] life rather than a job, she for whom "cooking was not a job but her DNA.

"

Throughout his career, Jean Imbert has put his grandmother at the center of the light.

In March 2019, the cook decided to transform his first Parisian restaurant, L'acajou, to offer dishes inspired by his Sundays spent with his ancestor.

"Grandma" was born then.

A few months later, he brought out a cookbook called

Merci Mamie pour les recipes

, a collection of his grandmother's best Sunday dishes.

"You will never leave me"

Regularly highlighted on her grandson's Instagram account, Nicole Imbert had become a unique face of the chef's fans revealed in

Posing alongside Cédric Grolet or even Pharrell Williams, the nonagenarian sometimes also shared his advice on video.

“You made me live all the dreams a grandchild can dream of with his grandmother.

And the person that I am is filled with millions of memories by your side;

so that you will never leave me.

I love you, ”concluded Jean Imbert.
