Bolling played early with jazz greats such as Lionel Hampton and Roy Eldridge, but also became known for his collaborations with classical musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and Jean-Pierre Rampal.

His music is heard in over 100 films, including "I come to kill", "Smile and pretend to die", "Strangling hands", "Spy on the hook", and recently also "Joker".
