New Year's Eve, under curfew due to the Covid-19 epidemic, was "generally calm" despite a few incidents and "the fears that we might have", said Friday the entourage of the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin.

On the whole of the territory, "the night, in sight of the first lifts, went very well", added the entourage of the Minister.

In Paris and in the inner suburbs, "overall" the night was also "calm", the same source said.

A consolidated report of incidents must be communicated at the end of the day.

In Bordeaux, incidents broke out in the Aubiers district

The minister's entourage, however, deplored "many" attacks against the police, in particular with fireworks mortars.

In Bordeaux, incidents broke out in the Aubiers district, with a post office burned down, several bus stops destroyed as well as a bungalow belonging to the agglomeration's public transport company, police sources said.

Clashes also took place in Calais, in the Beau Marais district, with fireworks mortar fire against the police who used tear gas, according to a police source.

Mortar fire and clandestine parties

Mortar fireworks aimed in particular at police vehicles were also observed in several towns in the inner suburbs of Paris, in particular in Limeil-Brévannes and Arcueil in Val-de-Marne, in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) , or in Villemomble and Noisy-le-grand in Seine-Saint-Denis.

The night was also marked by the interruption and the dispersal of several clandestine parties.

Especially in Marseille where an illegal party bringing together 300 people was interrupted and more than 150 revelers fined.
